A Borgo Egnazia wedding in Puglia

Borgo Egnazia is a resort near Fasano built like a Puglian village, between the Adriatic and the olive groves. Here is what it offers for a wedding, what to check about the legal ceremony, and how I would plan the light.

A Borgo Egnazia wedding is a whole stay rather than a single evening: villas, a village piazza, pools, a beach club and an olive-tree landscape, all in one place. I have not photographed a wedding at Borgo Egnazia, so I will not pretend otherwise. This guide puts together what the resort, the Comune di Fasano and the Regione Puglia publish, checked in October 2026, with how I plan photo and film for a summer wedding in the south.

What Borgo Egnazia is

In its own company profile, the resort was "built entirely from scratch between 2005 and 2010", designed by Pino Brescia and led by the Melpignano family. It is made in pale tufa stone and "inspired by ancient masserie and rural villages", set "between the blue Adriatic Sea and endless, age-old olive groves".

It is really three places in one. La Corte (64 rooms) recalls the old fortified farmhouses, with high vaulted halls. Il Borgo (92 rooms and small houses) is a village of narrow alleys around a large piazza. Le Case are 27 private villas, plus a main villa. Add four outdoor pools and a heated indoor one, a spa, the Cala Masciola beach club with a private beach, and the 18-hole San Domenico Golf course. In June 2024 the resort hosted the G7 summit of heads of state.

Which spaces host ceremonies and receptions

The resort does not publish a wedding page or a list of event spaces with capacities on its own site. Weddings go through its celebrations team. From the resort's own descriptions, these are the settings to ask about:

Setting What the resort says Wedding use to ask about
Il Borgo piazza A large square inside the village Aperitivo, dinner, party
La Corte Masseria-style halls with high vaulted ceilings Dinner, rain plan
Cala Masciola The resort's beach club, private beach Welcome evening, aperitivo
Le Case Private villas Getting ready, small dinners
The olive groves Around the resort Ceremony, portraits

The resort has also described a small chapel used for ceremonies, but I could not confirm whether it is consecrated. Ask the celebrations team for capacities, exclusive use, minimum stay and the rain plan for each space, in writing.

Only if its authorisation has been renewed, so check before you plan around it. The Comune di Fasano's marriage page lists Borgo Egnazia among the venues "suitable and authorised" to host civil weddings. But the Comune's own list of authorised venues, updated on 18 May 2026, gives Borgo Egnazia an expiry date of 29 May 2026, and when I checked in October 2026 I found no renewal online. Ask the Stato Civile office (statocivile@comune.fasano.br.it, +39 080 4394252) to confirm in writing that the authorisation covers your date. If it does not, you can marry legally at a Comune venue in Fasano and hold a symbolic ceremony at the resort.

For premises designated by the Comune as detached registry offices, its 2026 tariff sheet lists €600 on a weekday and €750 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (the sheet's "prefestivo/festivo") or outside office hours, for non-residents and foreign citizens. The sheet does not name private venues, so confirm which fee applies to your date. For a Catholic wedding, start with your parish and the local diocese, since the chapel's status is not published. My free guide to getting married in Italy covers the documents by nationality.

Getting there: airports, roads and guests

  • From Brindisi airport: about 50 km, around 30 minutes by car.
  • From Bari airport: about 55 km, around 45 minutes by car.
  • By car: from the SS16 Bari to Brindisi road, take the exit Savelletri / Stazione di Fasano, then follow the yellow signs for 2 km.
  • By train: the nearest station is Fasano, about 5 km away.

For a destination wedding, most guests will fly into one airport and need transfers. Ask the resort what it organises, and plan the welcome evening around flight times.

Light and the best portrait spots

The coast here faces the Adriatic to the north-east, so the sun rises over the sea and sets inland, over the olive groves (my reading of the map). Even the resort's entrance arch is "aligned along the east-west axis, following the path of the rising sun". Around Fasano the sun sets at about 8 pm in mid May, 8.25 pm in late June and 7 pm in mid September.

  • The olive groves: low sun through silver leaves in the last hour before sunset. My first choice for couple portraits.
  • The tufa alleys of Il Borgo: pale stone bounces soft light onto faces, even in the afternoon.
  • The beach: at sunrise, with the sun coming up out of the sea. A morning-after session here is worth an early alarm.
  • The piazza at night: warm light, lanterns and the party.

In July and August the midday sun is strong and high. Keep outdoor moments for after 5 pm, and use the alleys and vaulted halls for shade before then.

A suggested Borgo Egnazia wedding day

A June shape, built around the inland sunset.

  1. 1.30 pm Getting ready in one of the villas.
  2. 5.30 pm Ceremony, in the olive groves or in town if you marry legally there.
  3. 6.15 pm Aperitivo; family photos, ten minutes, with a list.
  4. 7.30 pm Couple portraits in the olive groves and alleys as the sun drops.
  5. 8.25 pm Ten minutes for the sunset itself.
  6. 8.45 pm Dinner in the piazza or La Corte.
  7. 10.30 pm Cake, first dance and party, until the end time the resort sets.
  8. The next morning: a short sunrise session on the beach, if you are up for it.

Rules that affect photo and film

  • Fire season: Regione Puglia declared fire danger from 15 June to 15 September 2026, and in or next to fire-risk areas it is "strictly forbidden" to set off fireworks or release sky lanterns. Plan a different finale.
  • Drones: I am a registered EU drone pilot (ENAC, A1/A3). Open-category flights stay below 120 metres and never over gatherings of people, and I check the d-flight map for restrictions before planning aerials over the coast and groves.
  • Music: I found no published end time from the Comune or the resort. With other guests staying, ask what the resort guarantees for your party.
  • Photographers and suppliers: the resort does not publish rules for outside vendors, so ask early.

Weather plan

Rain is rarer than heat in a Puglian summer, but plan for both. La Corte's vaulted halls are the natural indoor alternative; ask whether they seat your whole dinner. Wind matters here too: the golf course is laid out around the maestrale, the north-west wind, and a breezy evening on an open terrace needs heavier tablecloths, secured flowers and veils held down for the ceremony.

How I would plan photo and film at Borgo Egnazia

I shoot photo and film myself, on one timeline, so nobody waits for "the video person". At a resort where a wedding often spans several days, that keeps one eye on the whole story. If you would like the welcome evening or a sunrise session covered too, tell me when you send your dates and I will include it in the proposal.

Here I would plan the portraits inland, towards the sunset, and keep the beach for morning light. Every collection includes a pre-wedding consultation where we build the days around the light, the spots and the rain plan. For typical budgets, see my guide to what a wedding photographer costs in Italy.

FAQ

Can you get legally married at Borgo Egnazia?

Only if its authorisation has been renewed. The Comune di Fasano names Borgo Egnazia among the venues authorised for civil weddings, but its list of authorised venues gives the resort an expiry date of 29 May 2026, and in October 2026 I found no renewal online. Ask Fasano's Stato Civile office to confirm in writing for your date; otherwise, marry at a Comune venue and celebrate at the resort.

How much does a wedding at Borgo Egnazia cost?

The resort does not publish wedding prices or capacities; its celebrations team quotes on request. The Comune di Fasano's tariff for detached registry offices, if it applies to the resort, is €600 on weekdays and €750 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays for non-residents. I send my photo and film collections and prices personally once I know your dates, with travel added transparently; write to me.

Which airport is closest to Borgo Egnazia?

Brindisi, about 50 km away and around 30 minutes by car, by the resort's figures. Bari is about 55 km away, around 45 minutes. From the SS16, take the Savelletri / Stazione di Fasano exit and follow the yellow signs. Book guest transfers early, since most guests will land at one of the two.

Can we have fireworks at a Borgo Egnazia wedding?

Probably not in summer. Regione Puglia declared fire danger from 15 June to 15 September 2026, and fireworks and sky lanterns are strictly forbidden in or next to fire-risk areas. Ask the resort and the Comune before planning any, and keep sparklers and lanterns off the list.

When is the best light at Borgo Egnazia?

The coast faces north-east, so evenings are for the olive groves and sunrise is for the beach. The sun sets around 8.25 pm in late June and 7 pm in mid September. I plan couple portraits in the hour before sunset, inland, and suggest a short sunrise session by the sea.

Is Borgo Egnazia good for a multi-day wedding?

Its layout suits one: villas for families, a village piazza, vaulted halls, a beach club and a golf course, all on site. Ask about minimum stays and exclusive use. If you want the welcome evening photographed and filmed as well as the wedding day, tell me when you send your dates, and I will quote it in the proposal.
