Wedding photographer and filmmaker in Turin
I live and work in Turin, and I photograph and film weddings here as one person on one timeline. This page is what I would tell you over coffee: where to marry, where the light is good, and how the day fits together.
I am a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in Turin (Torino), working since 2018. I shoot the photographs and the film myself, so nothing is planned twice or missed between two teams. Here is the practical side of a Turin wedding: ceremony rooms and fees, photo spots, light by season, venues and a realistic timeline.
Why marry in Turin
Turin was the capital of the House of Savoy and still feels like one: straight streets, baroque squares and about 18 km of arcades, so you can walk from Piazza Castello to the river under cover. Across the Po the hill rises green, with villas, the Gran Madre church and, at the top, the Basilica of Superga. On clear days the Alps close the horizon.
The Savoys ringed the city with palaces, the "Corona di Delizie", inscribed by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1997. Several host weddings today; the most famous, the Reggia di Venaria, is a short drive north (see my guide to a Reggia di Venaria wedding).
What I like most as a photographer is the light: warm on the brick and ochre facades in the last hour of the day, soft in the shade of the arcades at midday, and from the hill the whole city below you as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Getting married in Turin: civil, symbolic or religious
A civil ceremony at the Comune di Torino
A civil wedding is legally binding and is celebrated by a civil status officer in front of two witnesses. The Comune di Torino publishes fixed rooms and days:
| When | Where | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Monday and Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons | Sala Matrimoni, via Carlo Ignazio Giulio 22 | 60 people, 50 seated |
| Saturday mornings | Sala Juvarra, via Corte d'Appello 16 | 99 people, 84 seated |
| Saturday afternoons | Historic rooms ("sedi auliche"), paid, by booking | Varies |
The historic rooms are Palazzo Civico, Palazzo Madama, the Accademia delle Scienze, the Museo del Risorgimento and Teatro Carignano. The Comune charges €800 for the Sala dei Marmi at Palazzo Civico and €2,000 for each of the others, paid the month before. Book them at matrimoniaulici@comune.torino.it.
The ceremony is free if at least one of you lives in Turin (except in a historic room). If neither does, the fee is €352, paid when you sign the publications. An interpreter must attend if either of you, or a witness, does not understand Italian.
Two house rules shape the photographs: no food or drink in the rooms or courtyards, and rice or petals only on the pavement outside. So the petal moment happens on the street, and I step out a minute before you to be ready.
A symbolic ceremony
A symbolic ceremony has no legal effect, so it can happen almost anywhere: a villa garden on the hill, a terrace, your venue's courtyard. Many couples sign the legal papers at home and keep the celebration for Turin. For photographs it is the freest option, because you choose the hour and the direction of the light.
A religious ceremony
A Catholic wedding in Italy also has civil effect once registered, but civil publications must come first. The Comune di Torino also handles publications for other faiths, including the Waldensian Church, the Jewish Community of Turin and the Orthodox Archdiocese. Start early: Catholic marriage preparation normally takes at least three months.
Where to take wedding photos in Turin, and when
Turin is compact: in one afternoon we can walk a few arcades, cross the river and drive up the hill without rushing. These are the places I suggest most, and the hour that suits each.
| Place | Best time | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Piazza Castello, Via Roma, Piazza San Carlo | Morning or late afternoon | Arcades and baroque squares; the arcades give open shade at midday and cover if it rains |
| Via Po to Piazza Vittorio Veneto and the river | Late afternoon | A long straight walk down to the Po, with the Gran Madre and the hill across the water |
| Monte dei Cappuccini | Sunset | Turismo Torino's own tip for sunset: the city, the Mole Antonelliana and the Alps beyond |
| Parco del Valentino | Late afternoon | Riverside paths and old trees; the Borgo Medievale inside the park is currently closed for restoration |
| Superga | The last hour before sunset | Juvarra's basilica on top of the hill, with views over Turin and the Alps |
| Reggia di Venaria | Morning or late afternoon | The Galleria Grande and the gardens; see my Venaria guide |
Superga can be reached by car or by the historic rack tramway from Sassi, which climbs 3.1 km to 650 m. On a wedding day I prefer the car: it keeps the timing in our hands.

How a Turin wedding day usually flows
Because the town hall keeps morning slots, a Turin wedding often starts with the legal part and saves the long light for later. A June example:
- 9.00 am Getting ready, with details and family. I photograph and film both if you are close to each other.
- 11.00 am Civil ceremony on Saturday morning at the Sala Juvarra, petals on the pavement outside.
- 12.30 pm Aperitivo and lunch with family, or a quiet break for the two of you.
- 5.00 pm Family photos at the venue, while everyone is fresh and nearby.
- 6.00 pm Aperitivo for all the guests.
- 7.45 pm Dinner on the hill or at a villa outside the city.
- 8.30 pm Twenty to thirty minutes of portraits in the evening light, between courses.
- 10.30 pm Cake, first dance, party.
In September, move the afternoon blocks about 90 minutes earlier. With an afternoon ceremony the shape changes, and we build it together around the light.

Wedding venues in and around Turin
Around Turin you can choose royal residences, villas on the hill or castles in the countryside. The ones I would look at first, each checked on its own website in October 2026 (road distances from Piazza Castello):
- Reggia di Venaria (12 km): civil ceremonies in the Sala di Diana for up to 120 guests, dinners in the Galleria Grande for up to 600. See my Venaria guide.
- Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi (12 km): Juvarra's hunting lodge, with halls for receptions; the Comune di Nichelino celebrates civil weddings there for €1,600 or €1,850.
- Villa Sassi (7 km): a villa at the foot of the Superga hill with a 22-hectare park and rooms for 200 and 250 guests.
- Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana (city centre): a baroque palazzo for up to 120 seated, a few minutes from the Comune's historic rooms.
- Castello di Masino (53 km): a FAI castle that is also a designated town hall, with civil ceremonies for up to 150 in its cypress garden.
- Castello di Pralormo (36 km): a castle that gives its English park to one couple for the day, with halls for 130 to 200.
Fourteen venues, with capacities, drive times and photo notes, are compared in my guide to wedding venues in and around Turin.
Seasons and weather in Turin
The table shows average daily highs and rainfall in Turin for 1995 to 2024 (reanalysis data) and the approximate sunset on the 15th, my calculation rounded to five minutes. Golden hour starts about an hour before sunset; on the hill the visible sunset comes a little earlier, so I check the real horizon before the day.
| Month | Average high | Average rainfall | Sunset (15th) |
|---|---|---|---|
| April | 16°C | 94 mm | 8.15 pm |
| May | 20°C | 122 mm | 8.50 pm |
| June | 25°C | 80 mm | 9.15 pm |
| July | 27°C | 52 mm | 9.15 pm |
| August | 27°C | 59 mm | 8.35 pm |
| September | 22°C | 72 mm | 7.40 pm |
| October | 17°C | 90 mm | 6.45 pm |
May has the softest green and the most rain of the year, so a covered plan matters. July and August are hot in the early afternoon; keep ceremonies and portraits away from 1 to 4 pm. 15 August and, since 2026, 4 October are national holidays, so check that offices and suppliers are working. September is, for many couples, the best balance.
How I work as a wedding photographer in Turin
I photograph and film your day myself, on one timeline. My way of working is calm and documentary: I would rather you forgot I was there than felt posed.
Before the wedding we have a consultation: we build the timeline around the light, choose the photo spots and agree a rain plan (in Turin, the arcades help). I also work directly with planners.
I speak English, Italian, Russian, Turkish and Azerbaijani, so I can talk with your families and guests in their language. I am a registered EU drone pilot (ENAC, A1/A3) and fly where local rules allow. You receive 300 to 800 edited photographs, delivered in 14 to 35 days depending on the collection.

FAQ
How much does a wedding photographer cost in Turin?
My collections cover up to 6, 8 or 12 hours, with photography only, film only, or both together. Most couples choose the Premium collection: up to 8 hours of photo and film. Each collection includes a pre-wedding consultation, and travel is quoted separately. I send the full details and prices personally once I know your date and venue; write to me.
Can foreigners have a civil wedding in Turin?
Yes. You file the papers with the Comune di Torino and bring a nulla osta (proof that you are free to marry) from your own country. If neither of you lives in Turin the fee is €352, and an interpreter must be present if either of you or a witness does not understand Italian. Start at least three months ahead.
What is the best time of year for a Turin wedding?
For light and comfort I suggest late May, June and September. June gives the longest evenings, with sunset around 9.15 pm. September is warm, calmer and a little earlier, with sunset around 7.40 pm. May is beautiful but is statistically the rainiest month, and July and August can be very hot in the early afternoon.
Where are the best places for wedding photos in Turin?
In the city: the arcades of Via Roma and Via Po, Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo, the riverside by Piazza Vittorio Veneto, and Monte dei Cappuccini at sunset. On the hill, Superga at the end of the day. Just outside, the Reggia di Venaria. I plan the route so each place gets its best hour.
What happens if it rains?
We agree a rain plan at the consultation. In Turin the arcades give us kilometres of covered streets with soft, even light, and many venues have porticoes, loggias or covered courtyards. If rain is forecast, we move the portraits to a dry window in the timeline.
Planning a wedding in Turin?
Tell me a little about the day you have in mind. I reply personally within a day or two with my availability, and we can talk on a free 20-minute video call in your language. Send me your date and venue.
